My personal brand has come a long way since graduating from college. What started as a very heavy blocky Circle A logo has now been updated to a very light and open logo that depicts an intertwined script “A” and “S” in an organic encased in a geometric hexagon.
When creating this new identity for myself as a designer, I wanted to create something that was created with a traditional calligraphy pen, and then scan that in. I wanted to use the combination of organic and geometric because I feel that with all of the free-flowing curves that I personally write with, the geometric angles help to contain the design. I wanted to use a font that had several different weights and I wanted something with a rounded corner, to keep a softer look. I wanted something without serifs because I feel that serifs have a very hard and unwelcoming look to them. The font that I found that matched all of my criteria, and ultimately completed my design was the font called Dosis.
Once I had my logo completed, I moved on to creating a color palette, I wanted to incorporate blue (PMS 2935 C) because it is my favorite color, and I chose gray (PMS Cool Gray 7) because I feel that blue and grey complement each other very well. Finally, I felt that I needed to make the palette warmer and I included an orange (PMS 7410 C) as an accent color.
AS Design Logo. This logo was created by digitizing a hand lettered AS in Adobe Illustrator, then adding the additional elements to combine the organics of my hand writing with the geometrics of the the hexagon and type.
